How did you first get into digital marketing and what in particular drew you to it?
From my college days, I have always had a keen interest in everything digital and pursued media studies to delve deeper into it. I was fascinated by the effectiveness of marketing and its pervasive influence on people's daily lives, whether they were conscious of it or not. However, it was my friend and former colleague who motivated me to pursue digital marketing as a career. Observing her pursue her passion in the field was inspiring, and it encouraged me to take the leap and explore the possibilities that digital marketing could offer me.
What does a ‘day in the life’ look like for you?
As a member of the solutions team, my responsibilities encompass a variety of tasks. On a typical day, I assist with integration testing, which involves generating test data, and addressing HubSpot related queries raised by clients. In the case of client concerns, my role requires me to conduct thorough research and provide them with accurate and prompt answers. Additionally, I contribute to implementation work as needed. Furthermore, I am accountable for supporting the creation and scheduling of content for Boom's social media platforms.
What are some key highlights from your first few months at Boom?
In my initial months at Boom, I have thoroughly enjoyed learning the ins and outs of HubSpot and becoming certified in one or more HubSpot tools or areas. This achievement is significant to me, since HubSpot is such a complex piece of software. Working alongside experienced marketers on the team has been instrumental in my learning and growth. Additionally, my passion for content creation has been fulfilled by contributing to various social media channels.
What are some exciting projects you’ve been working on?
In the past few weeks, I've had the opportunity to delve deeper into design work and I've enjoyed exploring the different design elements that go into creative, such as typography, color schemes, and layout, and experimenting with different approaches to create the best possible outcomes.
What’s your favourite thing about Boom and why?
One of your favorite things about Boom is the company culture, which is defined by five key values: curiosity, respect, positivity, ambition, and accountability. These values help to create a workplace environment that is positive, collaborative, and focused on growth and development. As a HubSpot Executive, I appreciate the sense of purpose and drive that these values provide, as well as the support and encouragement from my colleagues and managers.
What are your three biggest strengths?
I consider adaptability as one of my biggest strengths, and in the fast-paced digital marketing industry, it is a vital skill. Given the ever-evolving landscape, the ability to swiftly adapt to new situations and remain flexible is critical. My second biggest strength is creativity; as a digital marketer, it is essential to continually come up with innovative ideas to capture and retain the audience's attention, particularly in a crowded marketplace. Finally, I would add attention to detail to my list of significant strengths. In digital marketing, even the slightest errors can have a significant impact on the success of a campaign or task, making attention to detail a crucial skill.
Where are we most likely to find you outside of work?
When I'm not at work, you're most likely to find me at the cinema; my partner and I make a point to catch new releases each week. It's an excellent way for me to relax and enjoy some entertainment outside of work. However, if you can't find me at the cinema, I'll probably be at a theme park. My partner and I bought Merlin passes, and we have planned several trips to theme parks across the UK. Exploring new places and experiencing new things together is what I love about it.
What is something we’d never guess about you?
I once performed in the Royal Albert Hall as part of a choir in front of over 5,000 people!
What are you most looking forward to this year at Boom?
I’m most looking forward to discovering what aspect of this role I am most passionate about and honing in on those skills to develop them further.
